How to install new baluster
Azall Design’s balusters are specifically designed for easy do-it-yourself installation.
Before you start
Simply measure and mark where the balusters are going — as an example, seven (7) inches from the center of one baluster to the center of the next baluster is commonly referred to as "7 inches on center").
This spacing allows for no more than four inches between the widest points of two adjacent balusters, which will allow installation to meet standard code requirements for most regions.
*You should still check with your municipality to verify your building code and if any additional requirements are required, before placing your order.
Not certain how many pieces you need for your project, the quickest way to get an approximation is to multiply your linear footage by 1/2 and add 1or 2 extras.
For example, let's say your area is 20 feet; in this case that's 20 balusters + 1/2 of 20 which is 10. In this case, you will need approximately 30 balusters, providing your spacing between each baluster is 3 inches in order to comply with the spacing code provided by your municipal building department

How to Install your Baluster
Drill a one-inch hole into your concrete pad at the center where the baluster is to be placed. Remove any concrete dust out of the hole and insert a 1/2 " rebar in the hole, put masonry mix around the rebar, and slide the hollow base of the baluster inside of the rebar.
For structural consideration, always insert a stainless steel rod or rebar in your baluster. The same goes for the rail in order to properly anchor the rail to the structureat the joining or anchoring point,or wherever the rail meets with the post or a column into the epoxy or masonry mix. Level the baluster vertically and horizontally using a level and shims as needed.
Finishing Up
Once the epoxy or masonry mix has dried, you can set the coping or railing. Place mortar on top of the baluster and set the coping railing on top of the balusters. For structural consideration, always insert a stainless steel rod or rebar at the joining or anchoring point. Allow all to finish drying and enjoy!
Reinforcement: all our balusters are reinforced with a 1/2" steal rebar or a hollow steel pipe conduit. All rails are manufactured with two steel rebars running all the way throughout.
Newel posts: a thick Rebar or heavy gauge pipe should be placed in the middle of a newel post. To avoid freezing or cracking, the hollow section of the post should be filled with mortar or concrete
Railings: top of balusters have grooves where you can place rebars to further reinforce the system. |
Statue Care & Assembly Instructions
Important Assembly Instructions:
Azall Design recommends a construction of fast setting epoxy to be utilized in the assembly of any products as required. The epoxy will insure stability of: baluster, tabletops, birdbath tops, benches and any other products that requires assembly. We cannot be held responsible for failure to assemble products in accordance with this recommendation. Leveling is one of the most important aspect to consider when dealing with cast stone materials. If not properly leveled, water and moisture will gather on top or around your stone materials which will result into discoloration and peeling off of your cast products. Water/rain should not concentrate around any horizontal structure or materials, unless designed specifically for that purpose.
Statue Care:
Concrete and lawn ornament should be placed indoor during the winter when possible. Planter and flower pots, if left out should be filled with earth to avoid cracking due to ice expansion during freezing temperature. Larger items can be wrapped in a tarp. Do not place directly on extremely moist area. Statues should be sealed and placed on a patio block for stability and protection from moisture.
Any items containing water must be emptied before winter - FREEZING WATER WILL CAUSE YOUR ORNAMENTS TO CRACK.

Stain and reseal worn pieces as necessary
You may want to seal statues as often as necessary, according to climatic exposure, usually once a year. This can be done with a clear, exterior concrete sealer.
We would recommend marine paint or Stone paint as the best type of paint to be used on concrete ornaments
